We often associate St. Valentines' day with flowers and cherry blossoms fall into that category! The cherry tree story continues on this day 105 years ago when 3,020 cherry trees of 12 varieties were shipped from Yokohama, Japan on board the S.S. Awa Maru, bound for Seattle. Upon arrival, they were transferred to insulated freight cars for the shipment to Washington.
