Our Present Choice: Catharsis or Civilization

Lindsay is concerned about a split in the anti-woke crowd. The past 4 years have been a very trying time for people not in agreement with the woke movement. Some people are simply relieved that Trump won the last election. Others are not only relieved, but downright angry. They have been harassed. Some have lost their businesses due to the lockdown. Others lost their jobs because they would not get vaccinated. Emotions are very high. That can be good or bad. Non-woke people will be tempted to simply release their passions (catharsis) by retaliation or some other counterproductive activity. It would feel good. Unfortunately, there are people in high places who will demand catharsis. But civilization, is better. For civilization to endure, people must be able to control their passions with reason. They must be able to channel the energy of their passions into productive purposes with reason.
