ICE Works with North Dakota Law Enforcement Partners to Ensure Illegal Alien Wanted for Murder in North Carolina No Longer Threatens Our Communities This twice-deported criminal illegal alien will be extradited to North Carolina to face justice for his crimes WASHINGTON – The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released the following statement after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a detainer for an illegal alien from Honduras arrested in North Dakota who is wanted for murder in North Carolina. On April 9, 2026, ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Minot, North Dakota lodged an arrest detainer to ensure that Carlos Anuel Medina-Robles is not released from jail. A criminal illegal alien from Honduras, Medina-Robles is wanted for murder involving a firearm in Durham County, North Carolina. Carlos Anuel Medina-Robles  “This twice-deported criminal illegal alien from Honduras is wanted for a murder in North Carolina,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This is yet another tragic case of the consequences of disastrous open-border policies. The brave men and women of ICE are fighting every single day to get dangerous criminals like this off of our streets and out of our country.” Medina-Robles first entered the U.S. in August 2018 and the Trump Administration deported him in November 2018. He then chose to illegally re-enter the country – a felony – in September 2022 under Biden, but CBP removed him from the country. He illegally entered the country a third time at an unknown date and location. He is currently being held at Ward County Jail in North Dakota pending extradition to North Carolina.
