Preface to Historic Independence Photos

The next series of photos might seem a bit off-topic. The series will consist of photos of downtown Independence, Missouri, a city with considerable history.

For a time, the Mormon Church was located in Independence. And Independence remains the world headquarters of the Community of Christ (formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS)) Church.

More recently, Harry S. Truman lived here. Although Mr. Truman was born in Lamar, Missouri, he spent most of his life in or near Independence.

So, what does historic Independence, MO have to do with corridors?  It is a bit of a stretch, but we might consider that Interstate 70, a major east-west corridor in the United States, passes through southern Independence. Also, U.S. Highway 24 passes through northern Independence. So perhaps the corridor theme still works.

At any rate, the following photos are offered for your viewing pleasure.
