Satellite View of Post Tropical Cyclone Jose Fading

The National Hurricane Center issued their final advisory on Post-Tropical Cyclone Jose on Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. EDT. NOAA's GOES East satellite saw the circulation of Jose on Sept. 23 off the New England coast as it continued to weaken. All Tropical Storm Warnings have been discontinued.

At 5 p.m. EDT (2100 UTC) on Sept. 22 in the National Hurricane Center's final advisory, the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Jose was located near 39.3 degrees north latitude and 69.1 degrees west longitude. That's about 140 miles south-southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts. The post-tropical cyclone was moving toward the southeast near 3 mph (6 kph) and a slow southeastward drift is forecast for the next day or two.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 kph) with higher gusts. The estimated minimum central pressure is 996 millibars.

NOAA's GOES East satellite provided this visible view of post-tropical cyclone Jose on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 8:15 a.m. EDT. The storm continued weakening and generated light rain. The northwestern quadrant was still over Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Swells generated by Jose are affecting Bermuda and much of the U.S. east coast and will likely cause dangerous surf and rip current conditions during the next couple of days. Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard maintained a high surf advisory on Sept. 23.

Earlier this month, FortiGuard Labs researchers published findings about a malware campaign exploiting a PowerPoint vulnerability. Cybercriminals, however, are equal opportunity exploiters, so just recently an interesting targeted malware campaign was found to be using another document vulnerability. Only this time, it’s a Hangul Word Processor (HWP) document leveraging the already known CVE-2015-2545 Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) vulnerability.

Rewriting IDAPython Script objc2_xrefs_helper.py for Hopper

Security researchers have identified more and more Mac OS malware attacks over the past two years. In June 2017, Rommel Joven and Wayne Chin Yick Low from Fortinet’s Fortiguard Labs found and analyzed a new ransomware targeted at Mac OS. Most malware for Mac OS was developed in the Objective-C programming language. A good introduction to reverse engineering Cocoa applications can be found here. In that blog post, the researcher released an IDAPython script named objc2_xrefs_helper.py that can only be executed in IDA Pro. As you know, IDA Pro is the gold standard for disassemblers. However, IDA Pro Licenses start at $1409 (you can refer to that here). So this can be extremely cost prohibitive for many people. One good alternative is the Hopper Disassembler for Mac OS. A Hopper Disassembler v4 Personal License is only $99.00.

A Look Into The New Strain Of BankBot

BankBot is a family of Trojan malware targeting Android devices that surfaced in the second half of 2016. The main goal of this malware is to steal banking credentials from the victim’s device. Pfizer Presents Overall Survival Data of XALKORI in Patients with ALK-Positive Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) today announced final overall survival (OS) data from the PROFILE 1014 trial examining XALKORI® (crizotinib) in previously untreated patients with ALK-positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). After a median follow-up of 46 months, the median OS for patients randomized to XALKORI was not reached (95% CI: 45.8 months, not reached) and was 47.5 months for patients randomized to chemotherapy (95% CI: 32.2 months, not reached). Results indicated a numerical improvement in OS for patients treated with first-line XALKORI compared with chemotherapy, though this difference did not quite achieve statistical significance (HR=0.760 [95% CI: 0.548, 1.053]; p=0.0978). Opdivo Plus Yervoy Combination Demonstrated Superior Overall Survival and Showed Durable Responses in Patients with Previously Untreated Advanced or Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma in Phase 3 CheckMate -214 Trial

PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY) announced today results from the Phase 3 CheckMate -214 trial evaluating Opdivo (nivolumab) plus Yervoy (ipilimumab) versus sunitinib in patients with previously untreated advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC), including data on key subgroups. With a minimum follow-up of 17.5 months, Opdivo in combination with Yervoy reduced the risk of death 37% [HR 0.63; 99.8% CI: 0.44 to 0.89; P < 0.0001] compared with sunitinib, the current standard of care, in an interim analysis of overall survival (OS) in intermediate- and poor-risk patients, the co-primary endpoint. The median OS had not yet been reached for the combination and was 26 months for sunitinib (95% CI: 22.1 to NA). Results from CheckMate -214 will be presented today during Presidential Symposium II at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2017 Congress in Madrid, Spain, from 5:55-6:10 PM CEST in the Madrid Auditorium (Abstract #LBA5).

(NYSE:PFE) today announced positive findings from REFLECTIONS B327-02 (n=707), a pivotal Phase 3 randomized, double-blind comparative safety and efficacy study of the company’s investigational trastuzumab biosimilar (PF-05280014) versus Herceptin®1 (trastuzumab), at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2017 Congress in Madrid. Positive data from a supplemental study, REFLECTIONS B327-04 (n=226), were also presented at the meeting. PF-05280014 is being developed by Pfizer as a potential biosimilar to Herceptin.
